Substitutions and tips

I like a good amount of tang in my tartar sauce, but the amounts of yellow mustard and lemon juice can be tailored to fit your taste,

If you want a sweeter sauce, go light on the lemon juice and add honey. If heat is your thing, add a few dashes of hot sauce for a little zip.

Dill can also be added to this recipe for a greater depth of flavor.

Substituting dijon, stone-ground, or spicy brown mustard will also yield unique tastes.

Using avocado mayo will make this recipe Keto-friendly.

This tartar sauce is best enjoyed fresh. If you plan to store it, place it in a tightly-sealed container in your refrigerator and give it a stir periodically.
